Snapshot of ShowLove Landing page
Recognising the immense effort and dedication creators invest in developing digital content and products for their audience, Selar developed Show Love, a platform designed to enable creators to receive monetary tips and donations as tokens of appreciation.
Collaborating closely with stakeholders to develop the product strategy, designing its features end-to-end, and working with engineering team to effectively implement the design.

In studying our competitors, we identified that existing platforms often lacked features that could truly enhance the tipping experience for creators and supporters alike. A significant gap we noticed was the limited tipping options, often restricted to a single currency. To address this, we ensured that Show Love supported multi-currencies, including over 10 African currencies, catering to the diverse supporters of creators.

While carrying out user research for Showlove, I recognized the concern among creators about the potential stigma associated with soliciting tips, often feeling it might come across as begging. To counteract this stigma, I designed a feature that allows creators to personalise their tipping prompts and create custom thank-you messages for their supporters. This feature aims to strengthen the connection between creators and their fans by giving creators the flexibility to use their preferred tone and language when asking for support.

Show Love is a subsidiary product of Selar, with the holistic aim to amplify creators' monetisation strategies and nurture stronger bonds with their audience. To reflect this synergy, I designed a dedicated section on the Show Love page, redirecting page visitors to the creators' pages on Selar.

One challenging part of this project was working on the dashboard. Recognising that the dashboard would take time to build out, and considering we were working within the marketing deadline (launching during the peak December period), I prioritised functionality over aesthetics in its design, by leveraging Selar's reusable design components. This decision enabled our developers to speed up implementation, ensuring we launched within the timeline.

80% of Selar's users access the platform via mobile devices. Therefore, it's crucial that any design considers mobile responsiveness. In my approach, I prioritised consistency and cohesion with the web design to ensure a seamless user experience across all devices.

The design and implementation of ShowLove had significant positive outcomes, leading to substantial impact in terms of user adoption and revenue generation for Selar.
Rapid User Acquisition: Within just 60 days of the post-launch period, Show Love attracted 5,000 creators.
Revenue Generation: The introduction of Show Love as a platform for creators to receive monetary tips resulted in an impressive $10,000 in revenue. This demonstrates the viability of the product in generating income for both Selar and the creators who utilise the platform.
Diversification of Revenue Streams: Show Love introduced a new revenue stream for Selar, further diversifying its income sources beyond the sale of digital products and services.
